People with campaign signs for city-council candidates line both sides of Centre Street at Park Street this evening as part of the Steve Slyne/Harry Truman Society pre-election rally before everybody piled into the Irish Social Club to continue the festivities and hear candidates make last-minute pitches.
The event, started by Steve Slyne, has long been a West Roxbury tradition, in which politicians and their followers all hold a rally, if no longer held at the Hastings Street parking lot.

Inside the social club, Tim West reports that City Councilor Matt O'Malley (Jamaica Plain/West Roxbury) - who faces no opposition this year, and West Roxbury's honorary Lord Mayor Richie Gormley, who never faces opposition, led the event.
