
Ward's Pond is the small, hidden away pond across Perkins Street from Jamaica Pond on the JP/Brookline line.
It's part of Olmsted Park, which stretches along the ponds of the Muddy River north of Jamaica Pond, and is named for James Ward, who, after moving here from London before the Revolution, bought 44 acres in the area and built a mill, as one did.

During a brief respite from the rain this afternoon, this turtle appeared to have the entire pond to himself:
