I'm totally confused. I didn't see the cars or traffic

I drive up the Expressway, through the tunnel and over the Zakim to get to work. I was on the Zakim bridge this morning around 9:20 and didn't see any of this. There was no traffic in the tunnel (except for the usual backup of the right lane for people getting off at Govt. Center) and I didn't see any traffic after that. I definitely didn't see any accident, police cars or anything like that.
I would have thought there would have been some residual traffic or something when I was on it. Didn't see a thing.
Maybe earlier?

I was going by the time stamp on his tweet, but he could've taken it earlier, then waited to get to work or wherever to post. I'll ask.

It was actually the Northbound side of the Leverett Connector ramp, just past the Garden. Not the actual Zakim. Past it myself shortly after 8:30am.

There was heavy traffic on 93 northbound from Dot around 8-8:40am with Waze saying there was an accident further up - maybe it was this ? Either way it was a great morning commute today - decide to drive for once due to the Red Line only to be slammed in traffic due to an accident.

I commute from Quincy to Medford and I have learned to trust the app. Sometimes it detects traffic on 93 around Charlestown and in the tunnel so it has me go around through Chelsea, East Boston and past the airport to get to 93 that way. It sounds crazy but trust it.
It also gives the best directions I've seen of any gps. There is so much user input that it's dead on 99.9% of the time.
Warning: The screen light stays on so it can suck up your battery. Other than that it's a dream come true.

For commuter routes where it's got one of three common obvious choices to pick from and can calculate based on all the user data it's great.
For getting from obscure point A to point B (say, visiting a friend for the first time, going from your residential neighborhood to theirs) it can be a little weird, taking you through pretty circuitous routes through small neighborhood streets. Probably not getting enough feedback on actual speeds from users since you're the only one going there. I often feel like in those cases on paper it might have saved me a minute or two, but having to drive slow and look for Morningbird Lane or whatever instead of just dealing with traffic down Columbus Ave for an extra five blocks actually slowed me down.
tl;dr, it's a good tool but not a panacea for all city driving.

I think Google Maps is superior in most respects: It looks nicer, has a more intuitive interface, plus some nice little touches like telling you exactly which lane to be in (makes navigating an unfamiliar highway interchange much less stressful).
But Waze is much more sensitive to real-time traffic conditions and will get more creative in sending you around them. That's a pretty big point in its favor.
