AWARD-WINNING CHEF MICHAEL LEVITON TO HELM FORT POINT CHANNEL KITCHEN
Famed Newton Chef to take on Boston Eatery
Acclaimed chef Michael Leviton has signed on to helm the kitchen at Fort Point Channel's new, innovative restaurant/retail concept, Achilles, scheduled to open in October. Leviton will partner with Achilles' owners Michael Krupp and Shaka Ramsay to create a menu which will feature small- to mid-sized plates made with sustainable local ingredients where possible, and designed to represent "simplicity and harmony with each passing season." Best known for his Newton, MA restaurant, Lumière, Leviton will veer from the French cuisine for which he's known as he creates an American inspired menu for his first restaurant venture within the Boston city limits.
Since opening Lumière in 1999 Chef Leviton has received numerous accolades for his culinary acumen, including Food & Wine "Best New Chef in America" in 2000, Bon Appetit "Best New Restaurant" in 1999, Gourmet "Best Restaurant in America" in 2002, and numerous "Best of" Awards from Boston magazine. For the past three consecutive years, Chef Leviton has received awards from Distinguished Restaurants of North America (DiRoNA) and nominations for "Best Chef, Northeast", from the venerable James Beard Foundation.
A full-service restaurant and lifestyle boutique in one, Achilles will be a unique addition to the Boston landscape. The retail division of Achilles will feature exclusive and limited-run products from competitive- to high-price point fashion lines for men and women, as well as previously unreleased collections from a wide variety of designers and artists. In addition, Achilles will be a culinary destination, featuring a menu presented with simple elegance. Chef Leviton's choices will showcase the freshest local ingredients and seasonal items, with a focus on regional flavors and a commitment to sustainable foods. Achilles will be one of the first restaurants/retailers to move into Boston's up-and-coming Fort Point Channel neighborhood.
