A joint venture between a New York developer and a Los Angeles biotech venture-capital firm last week paid Gillette $80 million for a 2.4-acre parcel at A and Binford streets that Gillette now uses mainly for parking. Read more.

A federal appeals court ruled today that Frank Salemme and henchman Paul Weadick got a fair trial in 2018 on charges they murdered the owner of the Channel nightclub to keep him from talking to federal investigators looking into Salemme's criminal activities. Read more.

Lego house on Harborwalk along Fort Point Channel

Michael Spicher spotted this small house on the Harborwalk along Fort Point Channel, near the Gillette plant - not all that far from the spot on Congress Street where Nate Swain once "patched" a wall hole with a Lego community.

Maps showing where raw sewage flowed into the Charles, Mystic and harbor.

Brown indicates raw sewage, blue means treated sewage, green means no sewage released.

The MWRA and the Boston Water and Sewer Commission are reporting that "combined sewer outfalls" dumped raw and treated sewage, along with lots of rainwater, into area waterways overnight because of all the rain - but that the flow means people didn't have to worry about sewage backing up into their homes and businesses. As if the pandemic weren't enough, the Barking Crab on Fort Point Channel has been burglarized repeatedly over the past nine months. Early this morning, somebody broke in again, but this time, the restaurant reports, Boston Police caught the suspect red clawed. BPD records show officers cracked the case around 1 a.m.

New Fort Point art installation under way

The Fort Pointer captured artist Zy Baer at work on what will soon be Fort Point Channel's latest art installation, Polarity, which will show a future in which the channel floods and rises until only the upper floor and copper cornice of a building remains above water. Read more.

Disintegrating pyramid

An aghast citizen files a 311 report over the idea that some people want to return the unmoored channel pyramid to its position midway between Fort Point and the post office, at least not without some major glue work or duct taping or something:

The Fort Pointer reports that the pyramid that has been moored in Fort Point Channel since 2014 came loose and is now jammed against one of the channel's walls, where volunteers tied it down until it can be floated back to its original location.

Proposed new Northern Avenue bridge

Under trusses paying homage to the original span, pedestrians and bicyclists would be able to get across Fort Point Channel on a new Northern Avenue bridge that would include access to a sort of lounging area just above the water, under a plan presented by city officials last week. Read more.

The Fort Poin Boston Blog reports that Proctor and Gamble has started the early stages of a study of its Gillette plants in South Boston and Andover aimed at creating "new, world class, high tech production facilities, a cutting-edge innovation center and modern office space" - with an emphasis on a major continuing presence along Fort Point Channel.

Great blue heron in Fort Point Channel

Amid all the muck and decaying bikes and pilings and stuff exposed at low tide in Fort Point Channel yesterday, a great blue heron stood looking for a meal - one that wouldn't absorb too much of the oily sheen on the water - Johnmcboston observed.
