Roslindale man charged with trying to break into upstairs neighbor's apartment

Boston Police report arresting a man they say they caught trying to break into his neighbor's apartment at 305 Cummins Highway shortly before 1 a.m. on Wednesday.

Although Anthony Wallace, 31, was charged with attempted breaking and entering in the nighttime, police say he may have had more sinister motives: They say officers also caught him with a 13-inch "black handled chef's knife" in his pocket:

Officers were informed by the victim, that he and the suspect had been involved in an altercation the previous night and that the suspect was told to leave him alone. The victim stated a short time later, he heard pounding and yelling coming from the back door and when he went to see what or who it was, he observed what he believed to be the head of a screwdriver being worked between the door and doorframe. The victim stated he then called 911. Officers observed damage to the door and doorframe consistent with the victim’s statements.
