Four people who took part in a George Floyd vigil on Boston Common last May 31 have sued BPD and three specific officers for allegedly attacking them with batons and pepper spray as the rally ended and turned into several hours of looting that they say they had nothing to do with. Read more.

John Boampong, 37, of Dorchester has agreed to plead guilty to federal charges related to the way he responded to police officers demanding he drive away from the Arlington Street area by shooting at them repeatedly early on June 1, the US Attorney's office reports. Read more.

Shutting T stations after protests only creates dangerous situations for people who just want to get home, several Boston city councilors said today.

But the council did not formally go on record with a resolution calling on the T to stop shutting stations near vigil and protest sites at their regular Wednesday meeting because two councilors objected, which means it will instead go to a council committee for a hearing before the council votes. The FBI has released video and a wanted poster for two guys they and BPD want to talk to about their possible role in torching a BPD cruiser outside the Beantown Pub on Tremont Street Sunday night. Neither is described as black.

Police Commissioner Branville Bard today issued an order, effective immediately, that requires “all sworn members of the Cambridge Police Department present at any scene where physical force is being applied, to either stop, or attempt to stop, another member of the Department when force is being unreasonably applied or is no longer required.” Read more.
