I suppose this means he didn't have enough confidence in Bill putting enough weapons around him?
After all, it couldn't be because he was confident he could get a satisfactory arrangement with another team. He and his reps can't legally talk with other teams until the 18th, and we all know he wouldn't side-step a rule.
Channel 25 news went wall to wall with this story this morning, coronavirus forgotten and ignored. Goes to show the misplaced priorities of some around here.
He could still re-sign with the Pats. He could retire and start a new brand selling some stupid thing. He didn't say, "I am definitely leaving the Pats."
There's something poetic in the idea of a player playing for a single team for an entire career. Especially someone like Tom Brady. And when you consider his age, one would just see it as a given. Most wouldn't be able. The few that can, many would just choose retirement.
But Tom able, willing, and now is leaving. Almost surely he will retire a Patriot, but it is too bad he won't be a lifetime player.
If you follow the Patriots, the writing has been on the wall. Tom wants a big payout and wants a competitive team. But with the cap space, you can't both pay Brady what he deserve (especially consider literally decades of paycuts) and field a team better than last year. Unless Tom chooses to be sentimental and take one to the very end or just hang it up, there was no option.
Brady knocked up Bridget and dumped her for the Brazilian model. How much money do they need. Boston shmoston. They want more money and glitz. Too bad their kids will be uprooted and miss growing up in Brookline. When I think of great Patriots, I think of John Hannah, Russ Francis, Jim Nance, Andre Tippet, Steve Grogan, Stanley Morgan, and many others. Thanks to Tom for the great memories, but it was always about more than Tom, and now it's all about him. So long, farewell, Auf Wiedersehen, goodnight.
Tom Brady? That's what you're upset about? Brady makes $25,000,000 a year. How much does your father make? If your dad ever can't pay the rent and needs money, go ask Tom Brady. See what happens. Tom Brady don't care about you. Why should you care about him? Nobody cares.

He's done it all and won it all.
He doesn't need the money or fame and doesn't have anything to prove.
His kids are growing fast and he has already dropped back on commitments to spend time with them.
What reasons would he have to keep it up if he isn't feeling it any longer?

Coronavirus has dominated the news for weeks before and will again for weeks, even months after.
Honestly, let Brady have his coverage. It will be back to wall-to-wall Coronavirus in a few hours.
