Lynch would lose to Tierney in a primary, but could cause some real headaches if he were to run as an independent. Tierney didn't do so hot in the last election running against a weak candidate.
Their statistics are terrible in a way that would only fool themselves. Calling the district D +11 completely ignores the fact that in the existing MA-6, Baker beat Patrick (49-42) and Brown absolutely trounced Coakley (57-42). An established Rep. like Tierney beating a loudmouth ideologue like Hudak by 11 points does NOT make it a D+11 district. If they'd gotten a reasonable, responsible, experienced candidate like Tisei to run against Tierney there would've been a real battle in the 6th.
The redistricting would make that map a bit more blue, of course, but the new districts would likely be familiar with and favorable to Lynch. So yeah, not so confident that BMG's attempt to protect Tierney would work.

Good or bad that Boston is still split between 4 other districts...

It doesn't occur to them that Lynch could run against Keating? The South Shore is called the Irish Riviera for a reason. Where do they think all those people fleeing busing went back in the 1970s?
