All the commuter-rail lines in and out of South Station - save the Worcester and Kingston lines - are now reporting delays, possibly because a train slipped just a bit off the rails. Based on the delay times posted by the T, we're guessing it's the 1:17 p.m. outbound Fairmount Line train, which the T reports "remains stopped after South Station and is 45-55 minutes behind schedule."
Amtrak reports "lengthy delays" due to "a disabled commuter train blocking the tracks in the area."

I got on a train at South Station at about 5 PM. It left on time, and the only weird thing I noticed was a lot of workers doing something near where the Boston Herald used to be. There was a short train stopped there consisting of a locomotive and one coach, and about 20 workers gathered nearby. The Amtrak train that was supposed to leave at 4:30 was delayed, but neither my train nor the two that left while I was waiting were delayed at all.
It wasnt a Fairmount

I was at South Station stuck on a train for an hour and saw most of the mess unfold, it was a train coming inbound from the Northeast Corridor that derailed halfway through the switch from Track 1 to 2 (i think) between Cove and Tower 1. The Fairmount train was in the process of either entering or leaving South Station (i wasnt sure which it was) when it had to hold for the derailed train.

Just a little bit derailed, but unfortunately in nine months we won’t have a spankin’ new line.
