The production company currently filming the new Boston Strangler movie is telling neighbors of the empty shell where Doyle's used to be that they'll be shooting a scene there on Jan. 6, between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m.
Unlike with recent filming in the South End, there'll be no fancy 60s era cars outside. Also, there'll be no parking on Washington, Williams and Gartland streets.
This will not be the pub's first movie appearance: It made appearances in The Verdict, 21, Patriots Day, Celtic Pride, Mystic River and The Brink's Job.
Last week, the Boston Strangler crew took over the Pleasant Cafe in Roslindale for three days to recreate the 1960s, although getting the Pleasant to look like 1963 didn't take much work - they had to remove the Covid-19 barriers, the more modern photos and the fans, and that was that.
Doyle's closed in 2019. A local developer has proposed replacing it and the house next door with a Doyle's-like pub to be run by Brassica, a market and condos.

Is this historically accurate

Is this historically accurate though? Did Albert DeSalvo actually hang out there or are the producers just looking for that "authentic" dive bar ambiance?
