At 9 a.m. on Saturday, Darryll Fernald will be at the Green Street T stop with a shovel. And then he'll go out in search of people who still need help digging out. He's taking requests - and hoping other folks will join him in a roving JP cleanup squad.

There are a couple of parallel efforts to coordinate this... NextDoor has been a pretty useful service for my neighborhood (Parkside JP), and I would imagine that most neighborhoods in the city would benefit from organizing similar projects. My street had a shovel-out festival two weeks ago, and we added three more spaces to the road.

Well if you call 29 warm. I always go out and shovel a bit when the sun makes it easier to melt the snow. My neighborhood really suffers from not having a place to put the snow, so I throw only as much as will melt into the street. We lost about 6 spots on my street, I think it will be a few more weeks before there will be enough warm days.
Anyway a noon time start time might make the snow a bit softer and thereby easier to move.

Not into the driving path of cars, no. If it's not at least 40, it's added (slightly) to the problem.

I live in JP; since JP is a communist state, I speak for all when I say this is completely acceptable. Please feel free to begin and/or carry on.

Good for him! It's nice to know that some people still have a sense of community in a sea of me-firsters.

We had a good time, meet some new folks including a crew from the Christian Science church (I hope I got the correct of the church), tidied some intersections, chiseled up a few storm drains and cleared crossings. Thanks to this esteemed website, Jeffery, Clara, Rebecca, Jim, others I spaced on (sorry!!) @walkBoston and @SecretBoston as well!!
