The Soldiers Field McDonald's, which already has a 24-hour drive-thru, is seeking permission to keep its dining room open until 2 a.m.
The Boston Licensing Board considers the request at a hearing tomorrow.
Last year, the restaurant simply started running its dining room around the clock, figuring if the nearby IHOP could, so could it. Then, a Boston Police officer issued a citation and the franchisee learned you can't simply open a restaurant whenever you feel like it without permission of the licensing board.

Pretty much the moon as far as most Brighton residents are concerned. I'm surprised they have enough business to keep the place open 24 hours.

It's on a busy-ish road and has parking.
That IHOP attracts people from all over, because it's one of the few 24-hour options.

The entire city might as well be "The Moon" after 1:45 am.
I've been that one twice at 3:00ish on a Sunday morning--fairly large crowd of 20-30-somethings mostly just looking for a place to "crash" and sober up before heading home. 24-hr IHOPs are fun in general--I've also been to this one, which was the impromptu tail-end of my cousin's "bachelor party." Nothing like flirting with the waittresses for the last time at 4:00 in the morning before tying the knot 12 hours later.

Should be required to have their dining room open, for ADA reasons. Can't drive, so you can get service? That makes no sense to me.
A lot of this doesn't make sense

"You can't simply open a restaurant whenever you feel like it without permission of the licensing board"
Short of causing an actual disturbance requiring some kind of government action, you should in fact be able to open a restaurant whenever you feel like it if there are people who are willing to eat there...

Damn right! This is AMURIKA! Where you have FREEDOM! So long as the licensing board approves of you. Don't forget the entertainment "board" either. And if the Church doesn't mind. And mind that you don't bother any Good Ole Townie Boys -- they don't like all this newfangled gotta-be-hipster stuff. And so long as you provide oodles of free parking. Freedom!
