National Development told the BPDA this week it will soon file plans for a three-building, 700,000-square-foot life-sciences R&D complex at 1170 Soldiers Field Rd., where WBZ long maintained a backup AM tower and where the TV station lands its helicopter. Read more.

A developer putting up an apartment building and a condo building off Soldiers Field Road in Brighton, which were granted several zoning variances in 2018, today sued the Zoning Board of Appeal for granting several zoning variances earlier this year for an apartment building that would go next door. The Zoning Board of Appeal today approved a six-story, 102-unit apartment building off Soldiers Field Road near Leo Birmingham Parkway that was designed like a "prow" to give roughly most of the residents views of the nearby Charles River. Read more.

Managers at the DoubleTree Suites Hotel, 400 Soldiers Field Rd., told the Boston Licensing Board today they've taken a number of steps to reduce the sorts of incidents - from shouting matches to drug dealing - that have brought Boston police officers there repeatedly over the past pandemic year. Smashed up car in Brighton

Live Boston reports that a driver whose car went airborne before coming to a crashing halt in front of Party City on Soldiers Field Road around 6:45 a.m., suffered only minor injuries, as did the driver of another car he hit. Read more.

A developer has told the BPDA it will soon submit plans to replace the Skating Club of Boston at 1240 Soldiers Field Rd. with a 535-unit apartment building - and to raze the neighboring Studio Allston Hotel with an even newer hotel - and 120 condos. Read more.

Mystery bunker in Brighton

Just off the ramp from the Arsenal Street Bridge to Soldiers Field Road at the Charles River is this bunker. Presuming it's not a failed Dharma Initiative project with a keyboard where somebody has to enter a sequence to save the world every 108 minutes, anybody know what it is, or was, for?

At 8:38 a.m., State Police reported Soldiers Field Road was shut at North Harvard Street due to an "over height truck with equipment striking overpass causing equipment to fall off and several cars striking debris." Read more.
