Last Thursday, Tufts University announced it would remove the Sackler name everywhere it appears on its campuses, because of the family's ties to the opioid crisis.

The next day, the president of Harvard, who was previously the president of Tufts, said nope, doing what Tufts did would be "inappropriate."

Cambridge Police report arresting a former Shake Shack worker they say grew enraged when his final paycheck wasn't ready for him and threw "a plastic container filled with straws" at a manager - in addition to throwing "several items around the store, which included smashing a hot sauce bottle, customer's orders of burgers and fries on the floor and a tray with cup of sodas toward the kitchen work area." The Harvard Gazette reports a scientist picked to judge a competition on the Food Network said his experience got him to thinking about applying ideas developed for regrowing new organs to lab-grown meat - and that now his lab has "grown rabbit and cow muscle cells on edible gelatin scaffolds that mimic the texture and consistency of meat, demonstrating that realistic meat products may eventually be produced without the need to raise and slaughter animals."

Cambridge Day reports Cambridge is giving at least temporary control of the soon to be emptied Harvard Square newsstand to a group that promises a series of pop-up events to make the space a "community living room," at least until something more permanent is slotted into the kiosk. Adirondack chairs are part of the short-term plans.

A federal judge yesterday ruled that two Harvard undergraduates can continue their federal lawsuit that the school is ruining their futures and discriminating against them by effectively barring them from membership in male-only "finals" clubs in Harvard Square, but only if they drop their "John Doe" pseudonyms and reveal their true names. A federal judge today dismissed a lawsuit against Harvard and the Harvard Law Review by groups that claim they want to restore "meritocracy" to American higher education because their suit failed to provide the most minimal of details that even a first-year law student should have included. A Red Line train up and died at Harvard and while it has since been removed to wherever dead trains are sent, the MBTA reports continuing delays of up to 15 minutes - on top, of course, of whatever delays are still due to the signal problems at JFK/UMass.
