Jamaica Plain residents stood with candles at at least three spots along Centre Street this evening - at the Monument, in front of the Baptist Church and by Lakeville Street - to protest proposed Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
A woman and a man were shot inside the Pimentel Market on Centre Street at Wyman Street around 2:45 p.m. Read more.
Around 10:05 p.m. in the Mozart Street Playground at Mozart and Centre Streets. A bullet, believed to have been fired in the park, hit a house on Sheridan Street, several blocks away. No victims reported.

A city health inspector yesterday ordered Bukhara, 701 Centre St., shut for a variety of health violations, including a lack of hot water in the sink used by employees to wash their hands and equipment that needed cleaning, including a can opener, a microwave and the inside of an ice machine. Shortly after 2:30 p.m., three vehicles collided where Centre Street veers off from Spring Street, sending four adults and a child to local hospitals. The crash may have happened when one of the drivers suffered some sort of medical emergency.

The mural on the side with the old trolley version of Centre Street and of Dapper O'Neil shaking hands with his former boss James Michael Curley, painted back in the West Roxbury Pub days, remains.
