The MBTA reports delays of up to 15 minutes on the Blue Line - which could include trains just sitting in stations, their doors open, as an inspection train traverses the above-ground part of the line taking a close look at those overhead wires that make the trains go.

Yesterday, Revere Mayor Brian Arrigo declared the Boston Public Health Commission a pack of disorganized buffoons trying to foist Boston's Methadone Mile problems on his fair city by sticking some Mass-and-Cass people in a currently unused Quality Inn there - with no prior notice to him.

State Police report arresting a man they say decided he could no longer keep his dog, but rather than go to a shelter, chained the dog to "an exposed steel rod at the edge of a beach, with a large rock attached to the chain to prevent the dog from escaping, and then walked away, leaving the dog to the mercy of the next high tide." The Newton Fire Department reports the normally quiet Cheesecake Brook, which runs alongside Albemarle Field, turned into a torrent in the rains this afternoon, swallowing an unoccupied car.

Separately, the National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for Revere, Lynn and surrounding areas - sparking phones across Suffolk County to ping, even phones as far south as Roslindale, where at the time, there was no rain, no wind and bright sun trying to break through the haze.

The CDC is out with updated Covid-19 recommendations that call for "fully vaccinated people to wear a mask in public indoor settings in areas of substantial or high transmission" because of the risk posed by the Covid-19 delta variant. WBZ reports the snor'easter washed zillions of clams up onto Revere Beach, providing an all-you-can-eat buffet for area gulls. The station cautions the clams are not good eatin' for people, though - they might be contaminated.
