Northeastern University says it hopes to take over the entire Midtown Hotel and to lease floors in the Westin Copley Place to serve as dorms after eliminating on-campus triples and similar spaces and setting aside 500 campus rooms to quarantine any students who contract Covid-19. Read more.

The Boston City Council this week considers a proposal from Councilor Lydia Edwards (East Boston, North End, Charlestown) to ask Boston hotels to clean and sanitize rooms daily, even for guests who have stays longer than a night. Read more.

The BRA board this week gave its nod to $75 million worth of development along Melnea Cass Boulevard.

The BRA board approved a 76-apartment proposal for Melnea Cass near Tremont Street. Madison Park Development Corp. will spend $37 million to erect the five-story building, which the BRA says will help turn Melnea Cass into a neighborhood street, rather than remaining as a bypass left over from the days when it was planned as part of an Interstate highway. Unfortunately, Hyatt doesn't value its room cleaning staff one cent above minimum wage, because what they've done is to outsource all the housekeeping jobs to a minimum wage company that provides no benefits to its workers. If that's the priority Hyatt places on its room cleaning services, do you want to stay there again?
