The Boston Cannabis Board yesterday voted to approve a proposal for a pot shop on Hyde Park Avenue by three local entrepreneurs and to reject a plan for a dispensary a block away by a company based in Arizona. Read more.

A federal judge has sentenced a Hyde Park man to five years in prison for getting caught throwing a backpack with a gun up on a Blue Hill Avenue roof while police were chasing him on May 1, 2019, the US Attorney's office reports. Read more.

Somebody began firing a gun shortly before 10:10 p.m. on Lewiston Street at Ellard Road in Hyde Park. One bullet went through the wall of a house.

In August, two men were arrested on gun charges at nearby Ross Playground. In June, shots were fired nearby on Wood Avenue.

Over nearly five hours today, the Boston Cannabis Board heard from companies seeking to open nine pot shops across the city, from Rte. 1A in East Boston to Brookline Avenue across from Fenway Park to Washington Street in Roslindale, but none proved more contentious than a proposal from a company with 38 dispensaries in the US for a shop on Hyde Park Avenue in Hyde Park - about a half block away from where three local residents have proposed a pot shop of their own, well within the half-mile limit the city says it has for minimum separation between pot shops. In 2013, Donnie Wahlberg and his crews followed Boston cops around for a documentary series about how they did their jobs and protected the community from the bad guys. One of them was Robert "Twitch" Twitchell of Norton, who today was one of nine current and retired cops charged by federal officials with putting in bogus overtime payments while working at the BPD evidence warehouse in Hyde Park. Nine current and former Boston Police officers at the BPD Evidence Management Unit on Hyde Park Avenue in Hyde Park were arrested today on charges they put in for some $200,000 in fraudulent overtime over three years, the US Attorney's office reports. Read more.

I've always enjoyed exploring Boston on foot, especially gardens and smaller roads. During the quarantine we've explored more of Roslindale, West Roxbury, Hyde Park and Mattapan than before. Everywhere we walk, we find unpaved roads. Read more.

Boston Police report arresting two men, one from Hyde Park and one from Randolph, on gun charges at Ross Playground in Hyde Park yesterday after somebody called 911 to report a guy with a gun there. Read more.

WHDH reports a man in his 60s was stabbed in his driveway off Christy Lane, across from Stony Brook Reservation and near Fairview Cemetery, around 1:50 p.m. on Friday.

The station reports the suspect is a black man, 6 feet tall, about 230 lbs. in a blue hoodie, who came out of woods behind the man's house.
