A Roxbury man was sentenced to 12 to 15 years in state prison today after he pleaded guilty to several charges for his part in an April 6, 2019 gun battle on Mattapan Street in Mattapan that killed Eleanor Maloney, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.
Dane Henry, 29, pleaded guilty in Suffolk Superior Court to voluntary manslaughter, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, assault with a dangerous weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of a large-capacity firearm and witness intimidation, the DA's office says.
Henry himself was also shot in the gun battle, in which Maloney's grandson, Anthony Davis, 42, took part and was also injured.
Prosecutors say Maloney, 74, had nothing to do with the beef and was outside her home with family members, including Davis, enjoying a warm afternoon.
Davis faces trial on June 2 for his role in the gunfire that led to his grandmother's death, the DA's office reports.
After their arrests, prosecutors said they could not be sure which of the two men fired the fatal shot, but said it didn't matter, because both equally shared the blame since Maloney died as the two were trying to kill each other.
Dane shot Davis in the leg, shattering his femur, and Davis shot Dane in the arm.
Two other men had earlier pleaded guilty to lesser charges in connection to the incident.
Chinonso Nwosu, 29, pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of a firearm and was sentenced to 18 months in prison - with another year to hang over him should he get in trouble again. Khamal Watson, 25, was sentenced to a year in probation after pleading guilty to witness intimidation.

I was in Norfolk Park when this shooting took place enjoying the afternoon with friends on the basketball court. We heard the shots. The Police response and one of my friend identified the siren of a coroners office response which completely disrupted the vibe.
OT: Did you know that decades of inactivity at a sport could completely sap your skills?

Killing somebody only nets you 12-15 years? What a joke.
And yes, “Don’t Panic” I unfortunately am far too well versed in sapped skills from inactivity.
She was a grandma at 32.

That’s nuts, I can’t even begin to imagine how tough that life must have been and then a few decades later get killed in a gunfight that your adult grandson was involved in.
