The Supreme Judicial Court ruled today that the state does not have to print Rayla Campbell's name on the Republican ballot for the 7th District congressional seat, because she failed to collect even the reduced number of signatures the court had earlier allowed due to Covid-19 issues. Read more.

The Massachusetts Appeals Court ruled today that Maurice Morrison got a fair trial that led to his second-degree murder conviction for shooting both a Chelsea cab driver and the driver's front-seat passenger in the back of the head in 2013, possibly because the passenger was blackmailing him. It is being viewed in most every circle as a very positive end to a past most in Chelsea did not want to be associated with, including the shady strip club, many criminal assaults and even a murder.

A federal judge yesterday denied a request by a man facing 11 armed-robbery counts that he be allowed to await trial at his mother's home in Chelsea due to health issues that might put him at risk of complications should he contract Covid-19 behind bars, ruling he would prove too much of a potential menace to society - and that given he is facing serious time behind bars, he would prove too much of a flight risk. The state Department of Public Heatlh today began releasing town-by-town Covid-19 numbers. Even with what might still be considered relatively low testing numbers, Chelsea is showing an infection rate of 1,890 cases per 100,000 people, based on 712 cases and a population of around 40,000. Bunker Hill Community College, which was due to go on spring break on Monday, shut its Charlestown and Chelsea campuses last night after learning somebody at the Chelsea campus has one of those "presumptive" Covid-19 cases.
