Why is there police on school buses??

Probably for the same reason the police are anywhere when called. Fight breaks out on school bus. Bus driver radios for help. Police arrive and board school bus. What do you think?

I think if the police had any idea what they were doing, nobody would be going to the hospital.

My impression was that a school bus is an extension of a classroom, and if anything happens between any number students, BPS has enough licensed and trained professionals who can respond. Why involve the force designed to be used against drug dealers and murderers?

This is a single incident. Are there more? Are they common?

The next step is "how will having staff on board change the situation for the better".

Those are answerable questions with an appropriate amount of data and policymaking expertise.

EDITED: I misinterpereted the original post

I thought I said the exact opposite. Why did they involve cops in the first place?

Perfect user name, welcome.

Probably because the police were the closest at the time.

Until they all get beat up and sent to the hospital.

... the bus driver, and the bus monitor were taken to the hospital for evaluation.

That was probably a ploy to get union mandated sick days.

Facts not in evidence.

Just where do the article and video indicate the police were already on the bus?

E13 is right down the street. And they're often on Centre St. They probably showed up quickly. This time.

The bus driver pulled over and police and EMS responded.

That means they responded to a call, not that they were already on the bus. Or am I mis-reading something?

School buses are out of jurisdiction thanks to the super woke olympians and people who believe in the school to prison pipeline. Who knew that the woke awakening and pearl clutching by people would leave us standing outside of the bus while your kid gets pummeled? But nothing we can do...
