Arlington suspends programs at senior center, library, recreation department

Town officials in Arlington, which has had at least one coronavirus case, say that effective immediately, they're suspending all walk-in programs at the town senior center, all programs and events at the library and Recreation Department programs until further notice over Covid-19 concerns. All library meeting rooms are now shut to the public.

However, the town will continue to run its senior transportation program, so that eligible residents can get to appointments around town

I looked on Arlington's town website but could not easily find it.

I prepare taxes through the VITA program in the Senior Center, and we'd had discussions in the past couple of days about whether we would continue. Looks very definitely like we won't, at least not in the same way as before.

I teach chair yoga at a private senior apartment complex in Boston. I literally just got off the phone with the manager there, who let me know that all social activities at their location are suspended for at least 2 weeks due to COVID-19 concerns.

The chair yoga class is the only "movement" some of the residents get all week :(

If they have windows on the side of building, maybe you can do something outside in front of building so they don't have to leave their units.

A flashmob of one? ;)

Chair Yoga is normally done with people who are not all that flexible or mobile, hence why they are using a chair to help. I suspect that you would not want them doing this alone in case something happened.
