Things change, stenciler tells Central Square pedestrians

Stenciled on the sidewalk in Central Square: It won't be like this all the time

A roving UHub photographer reports somebody's been stenciling this message on sidewalks all over Central Square in Cambridge, adds:

I don’t know who, but they’re so awesome and I wish I could thank the artist!

Sorry, I couldn't resist. :-) Actually, I kind of like it.

If not, I'll call them Captain Obvious.

This sort of thing is fairly temporary and goes back to the most ancient times in which people could write.

I seem to recall in your halcyon good old days that nobody gave a flying fuck about it, like, ever. It was the 1990s before any efforts to clean things up came about.

If anyone gave a "flying fuck" or not. I do know what it was called, and it wasn't art.

Nor do I. There are far worse things for you to grumble about.

I paint what I see.

Where is that rule written?
If I paint some slogan in front of someones house and call it art , I bet there would be disagreements. One person's art is another person's graffiti

It is way better than those public murals, and doesn't last nearly as long.

I leave it behind
My words are my by-line
But I want you to see
It's me, me, me
But you know I fear jail time

It says a little something that y’all think this is a positive message.

You could thank the artist dude's attitude with gratitude for the platitude.

I saw one of these in Soho Square in London last winter, where it was a much more depressing statement than it would be in Central. Sorry, Cambridge.

Yeah. Can't decide if I'm supposed to read this as a pep talk or a threat.

Chalk, okay. Paint, not okay.

This is all good fun until, it ends up on the hood of your car or the side of your house.
