MS-13 member gets 35 years for role as backup to a murderer

Luis "Brujo" Solis Vasquez, a member of a Chelsea MS-13 gang, was sentenced to 35 years in federal prison yesterday for his role in the murder of a rival gang member in an apartment on Chester Avenue in 2014, the US Attorney's office reports.

A federal jury in Boston convicted Solis Vasquez, 27 and a Salvadoran national, of RICO violations, including "committing or knowingly participating in murder as part of the racketeering conspiracy." According to the feds, Solis Vasquez also took part in several knife and machete attacks against rival gang members in 2015 and 2016.

According to the feds, Solis Vazquez, a member of the MS-13 Eastside Locos Salvatrucha "cliqute," went along with Hector "Vida Loca" Enamorado on Dec. 14, 2014, to murder an 18th Street gang member who had bested Enamorado in a fight the night before - to the point of putting out a lit cigarette on Enamorado's arm. Enamorado planned to fire the fatal shots, but Solis Vasquez was there with his gun to finish the job, just in case.

Enamorado managed to kill his rival - and shot and nearly killed an innocent man who happened to be there as well, but Solis Vasquez also played an additional role in the murder by helping to plan it, prosecutors said.
