UPDATE, 8/30: Restaurant cleared to reopen.
A city health inspector yesterday ordered Bukhara, 701 Centre St., shut for a variety of health violations, including a lack of hot water in the sink used by employees to wash their hands and equipment that needed cleaning, including a can opener, a microwave and the inside of an ice machine.
Also needing attention, although not considered severe enough by themselves to warrant closing, were some dirty walls, ceilings, vents and cooking hoods - and the floor under cooking equipment. Also, the restaurant was told to get rid of the carpet in the walk-in refrigerator.
The restaurant was kept shut after a re-inspection showed that while the more serious issues had been taken care of, dirt persisted in several parts of the kitchen. The restaurant will be allowed to re-open once those violations are taken care of.
The restaurant was last ordered shut for health violations in March.
