A sushi place in Brighton Center goes before the Boston Licensing Board on Wednesday for permission to let customers bring in their own wine and beer.
If the board grants approval, customers of Asahi Sushi Bar, 418 Market St., could bring in one 750-ml bottle of wine or a 64-oz. bottle of beer.
The restaurant is only the fourth in the city to apply for one of the BYOB licenses, introduced last year as a way to help smaller restaurants in the city's outer neighborhoods. The first restaurant to get one of the $400 annual licenses, Seven Star Street Bistro in Roslindale, has since gone out of business.
The licensing board's Wednesday hearings begin at 10 a.m. in Rm. 809 in City Hall.
