Apparently the poster of this sign has plans to move out of the United States (and possessions) before Inauguration Day. That's such good news!

While this man may legally become the president, most Americans refuse to take ownership of him.

The untoward appearance of impropriety by the FBI, combined with likely interference by a foreign enemy power to affect the outcome of the election, renders it illegitimate in the minds of many citizens. Combined with the fact that three-million more Americans voted for someone else; many people do not wish to be associated with him, his opinions, or policies of the people he's appointing to run the government.

He'll never have the support of most people in United States. He might be the president, but most Americans bristle at the thought of him as their president — he's not wanted, he doesn't belong to us, he's not ours.

One hope of preventing the many catastrophic changes his looming administration is poised to implement, is for the American people to keep saying no! — you don't have our support.

I didn't vote for Trump, and I'll never understand how this walking dumpster fire got elected, but anyone who wants to protest in the same fashion as a a 6-year-old toddler throwing a tantrum is only adding to the great divide our country is currently experiencing.

Not "taking ownership" of the President elect is the same as not taking ownership of your country. The whole concept of "not my president" or "not our president" is sophomoric and absurd.

Grow up, wipe away your tears, and let's work together to weather the next 4 years (not factoring a higher than normal impeachment possibility) and figure out how to keep the country moving in the right direction – even with a leader that the majority of voters did not ask for.

Every politician is a traitor. Every politician is a liar.

If you're claiming treason for some reason, that's your prerogative, I suppose.

But I'm sorry to inform you, unless you denounce your citizenship, the Orange Wonder is still your president.

Otherwise, why not revolt? What's more Bostonian than a good old fashioned revolution?

up

There's no requirement for citizens to support him willingly. You can call him the president, but you can't call him my president. If you don't understand the difference, that's your problem to solve, not mine.

Apparently, I hit cancel instead of save when I tried to comment before.

It's even simpler than this flowchart. If you're a citizen or not, resident alien legally or illegally, just visiting, voter or nonvoter, voted for him/HRC/other - the government under this country's law is your government, and Trump will be the President - the chief executive & commander-in-chief in this form of government - upon taking the Oath of Office on January 20.

If you're here - this is your law, this is your government, this will be your president.

One doesn't have to like him.
One doesn't have to shut up
One doesn't have to stop pushing him to be better or stop pushing legislators to be a functional check & balance.

It is advisable, however, to accept certain factual realities.

I cannot recall a "Never Obama" movement. In fact, his opponent in 2008 tried to tamp down fears on the part of his supporters of an Obama Presidency BEFORE the election. Yes, there were a few crackpots who thought Obama was not qualified to be President because he was born in Kenya, but they were viewed by the vast majority of Americans as crackpots, and rightly so.

Yes, some people disliked Obama getting elected, but very, very few claimed that he was not their President, mostly people with mental issues.

I mocked the birther movement, and I will mock this.

up
Voting closed 0

It's puerile and foolish to think that. I tell people that if they don't agree with Trump winning, they've only got themselves to blame for not going out there to vote or not doing enough to get Sanders to the forefront. The DNC should be heavily scrutinized by these protestors for maliciously slandering Sanders and then crying "Russia" when Wikileaks caught them with their pants down. So I hope that the three headed dragon media is finally finished because of this election...

Of course, they didn't use the exact term you did, they just talked about the birth certificate crap et al - over and over and over, all the way up to this election! And it wasn't just a few people, it was millions of people repeating it - including GOP lawmakers, including Trump. That's why there's a frikkin shorthand name for them!

On the one hand, I doubt that breathless rants like the one on this sign will do much good, but on the other, the tone's not at all atypical for publically expressed political thought these days - except that it's being stated from a position on the left, instead of the right.

I get that it may make you feel better to rewrite history in your head to believe that the currently ascendant reactionaries didn't popularize this sort of over-the-top public rhetoric - but they did.

It was called congress. Short memory if you don't remember the Judge Garland debacle.

There is a difference between members of the legislative branch refusing to go along with the agenda of the executive branch and people insisting that the elected President somehow isn't their President. Congress makes the laws and the President executes them. American government 101, lesson 1.

Honestly, I would be shocked if Schumer didn't do to Trump what McConnell did to Obama. It's part of the game. Trump needs to learn to work with the Democrats lest he goes down as the second coming of John Tyler.

The president is not a dictatorial position, so Congress is not obligated to do anything he says.

I think you need to go back and study your US History. Congress and the President were not created to agree with each other.

up

I don't recall any other time in history that congress' entire goal was to block absolutely everything the president did, regardless of whether it was something they once agreed upon. Perhaps I should read up once again.

You don't remember the birthers or the Obama effigies being hung from trees? None of this rings a bell?

Do you remember that the Secret Service reported a 400% increase in death threats against the POTUS in 2009?

I may consider hanging a sign in JP a pretty silly statement, but it's a harmless way of burning off frustration, like making fun of his small fingers or sphincter mouth.

"Barack Obama, the first African-American president of the Harvard Law Review, was born in Kenya and raised in Indonesia and Hawaii."-- From Obama's Literary Agent, Acton and Dystel, 1991-2007

Regardless of one's views on Obama's place of birth, he clearly started the born in Kenya meme unless his Literary Agent pulled that out of thin air. I know some flunky at the agency was blamed for mentioning it, but it wasn't corrected until 2007, around time he announced for president. Add in the fact that some of his relatives in Kenya claim they witnessed his birth there and was certainly worth looking into.

It's meaningless now that his presidency is all over but the hysteria of the far-left on the birther issue has been quite amusing since Obama started it. Even Hillary was looking into it at one time.

up

Wow. Just wow.

up

Indeed. At the time, the media spent a lot of time on the fact that McCain was born in the Panama Canal Zone, and might therefore be ineligible to be president. It always seemed like the whole sudden media interest in the 'natural born citizen' clause was coordinated by Clinton's media allies -- since logically she was the only one who might benefit. Maybe if we had some of the campaigns emails from 2007, we'd get to the bottom of it.

up
Voting closed 0

Yes, the issue came up. No, it was not on the front page of the New York Times for weeks on end, probably because not many people took it seriously.

But speaking of McCain, one of the finer moments of his campaign came when he told a woman ranting about Obama being a dirty furriner was when he politely told her Obama was as American as he, a good Christian, just one with whom he had some political differences.

Such a happier time politically.

The sad thing is that I would gave given my right nut if McCain were on the ballot this year outside of Arizona. A man of honor, yet he lost to both G.W.B. and Obama.

(For those too lazy, or stupid, to look anything up themselves)

Miriam Goderich edited the text of the bio; she is now a partner at the Dystel & Goderich agency, which lists Obama as one of its current clients.

"You're undoubtedly aware of the brouhaha stirred up by Breitbart about the erroneous statement in a client list Acton & Dystel published in 1991 (for circulation within the publishing industry only) that Barack Obama was born in Kenya. This was nothing more than a fact checking error by me — an agency assistant at the time," Goderich wrote. "There was never any information given to us by Obama in any of his correspondence or other communications suggesting in any way that he was born in Kenya and not Hawaii. I hope you can communicate to your readers that this was a simple mistake and nothing more."

up
Voting closed 0

Sock-Puppet, like I said, some flunky took the blame although the "born in Kenya" reference stayed from 1991-2007. Even far-left Snopes confirms the existence of the "born in Kenya" sell sheet. Why does it matter if that info was available only to the literary industry? Was he lying then or lying now? Why criticize people who took Obama and or his paid literary agent at his 1991 word?

Swirly, I will produce my original birth certificate with raised seal, college transcripts, even a bunch of people who knew me in college, unlike Obama, when I announce for president. After 16 years of Trump/Pence, it might be a while.

Again, it's meaningless to now question Obama's birthplace as he exits but certainly curious why he allowed the "born in Kenya" line to stand for 16 years. An editing error is allowing Kenya to be spelled Kennya. To suggest that some literary agent made an editing error on her own and changed Hawaii to Kenya is laughable.

up
Voting closed 0

The mere fact of bringing up the lie and putting it into the present tense is to continue the lie of Obama's birth.

But thanks for proving that there were people who played the "never Obama" tune and now want the history books to reflect their fantasy.

What I would like to see are Trump's tax forms. What is he hiding? Is he hiding that perhaps he was actually born not in the U.S.? Quite the irony there. Or is he hiding a massive fraud (well that's not hidden, he admitted it in the Trump U fiasco). Or does is Trump afraid that taxes are what will take him down, just as it was taxes that brought down Al Capone?

up
Voting closed 0

Sounds like a fake.

There is a reason that the State Department has specified a form for birth certificates - you have to get one from your state in that form if you want a passport, or they won't take it.

I had the originals for my sons. Nothing doing. They want that state-issued form - you know, the EXACT same one that Obama released! Why? For the same reason that bars have trouble spotting fake driver's licenses: too many variants = way to easy to fake with "raised seals" and such. If it ain't a certified copy issued recently on that form? Not valid.

Amazing, huh. You clearly don't know much about vital records, certifications, or security, do you.

up
Voting closed 0

Swirly, my passport is good til 2023. I may use it for inaugural, even though it's a domestic flight, I still want the D.C. stamp from Reagan airport. I've only had one birth certificate in my life, looks nothing like Obama's but has worked fine with date and raised stamp/signature of City Clerk at the time. Born in MA, I have a social security number that corresponds with a MA birth. Still unsure how Obama, born in Hawaii, received a social security number for a person born in Connecticut. Adds to the intrigue. For those of us who've made one man officer stops in the middle of the night, a motorist claiming to be born in Hawaii using a SSN for someone born in CT, would be asked to step out of the car.

up
Voting closed 0

President Obama and I were born around the same time, he in 1961, me in 1966. Back then babies didn't typically get SSNs; you got an SSN when you first needed one, typically when you were looking for your first job. If you moved between birth and when you got your SSN, of course your place of birth and your SSN wouldn't match.

I got my SSN when I was 12 or 13, when I earned enough interest income to have to pay taxes on it.

Issuance at birth became mandatory with the 1987 income tax reforms, when taxpayers started having to list their dependent children by SSN. (Listing nonexistent children had been, so the story went, a popular form of tax fraud among the middle class.)

up

A police officer, which you aren't, you would be in dire need of retraining.

Social security numbers were not assigned at birth for old geezers like me and Obama. They were assigned by the field office in the state where the individual applied, usually when the individual first started working above the table (for me, at age 15).

My social number matches neither the state of my birth nor the state of my residence. And it's not on my drivers license either. Millions of other Americans share these facts with me.

So your made-up hypothetical boast just exposes how little you know both about social security numbers and about policing. Real police officers don't prioritize their work based on conspiracy theories from the fever swamps of the Internet.

MA driver's licenses do not have a state or place of birth on them.

IMAGE(https://www.massrmv.com/Portals/30/Images/MA_D200_PR_Adult-DL_150dpi250.jpg)

Since these things are pretty standardized on a federal level, I doubt many states do.

How would Fishy the Fake Cop know where someone was born?

You can also opt not to have your SSN on your driver's license - I was shocked that MA even did this when I moved mine over. The state that I originally licensed in never used the SSN in the first place.

You have a well established record of making deceptive and untrue statements in your postings. The challenge to exposing you is that without your identity, you know it that disproving your assertions is elusive. But with all liars, impeded in their lies are small statements they make that open the door to unraveling their bullshit stories.

True to form, you have not disappointed. You stated: "my passport is good til 2023. I may use it for inaugural, even though it's a domestic flight, I still want the D.C. stamp from Reagan airport."

Fishy, you assumed that your "readers" are stupid and you simply said something without any idea if it comports to reality. Let's start here.

If and when your passport, is stamped, that action would take place upon entry into the US, It would occur because you are not a US Citizen. This would happen as you pass through US Customs. If fact, most passports of individuals entering the US are no longer stamped. Instead, the visitor is issued a receipt which is stamped at the onset of the customs process then retrieved at the end of the customs process.

In any case, flying from one US city to another US city would never require you to pass through customs. The idea that you would get a stamp from Reagan Airport is even more preposterous. Stamps are "Port of Entry" specific. Not airport specific.

Now I anticipate you are going to attempt to offer some sort of andedotal argument that you have had your passport stamped…unless you are prepared to prove it, lets just agree that you are full of shit and just a garden variety liar (and not a particularly good one at that).

Now the real implication of this example of your latest deceit is that if you are motived to lie about something so easily disproven, it is reasonable to assume that you lie about other things. We'll get to that later.

BikeGeek & Sock Puppet & Swirly are all correct. This even goes later into the 1970s, maybe into the early 80s.

My sister was born in 1973 and I was born in 1976 in Connecticut. However, our SSN's were not issued until 1985 because we didn't need it. Hers and mine are ONE digit off from each other (literally). But since by 1985 we lived in New Hampshire, my SSN reflects a NH number, not a Connecticut number. My father sent off the hospital-issued county raised seal copy to the SS Administration and got us cards without much of an issue. But then again, it was 1985 and state issued birth certificates were not required at the time.

To further prove that I was right.. in 1997, I lost all forms of ID due to a psychopath roommate who burned them all on the stove one day while I was at work (long fucked up story that contains sex, drugs, and rock n roll). This was including a raised seal copy of a birth certificate issued by the hospital in 1976.

My father sent me the hospital-issued county raised seal copy he had (we had two copies), but when I went to re-apply for a replacement SSN card, they would not take it. I was told by the Social Security Administration that I needed a State Issued birth certificate, and it had to be the full copy... identical to Obama's... and not the wallet card I ordered also with the full certificate from the State of Connecticut.

Which btw.. if you ever lose ALL YOUR ID.. it is a royal pain the in ass to prove that you are you. I had to have several letters from employers, friends, and what not notarized proving who I said I was, along with a signed affidavit. This whole process took MONTHS and had to be done in sequence. Birth Certificate First, then SSN, then Drivers License...

Of course this whole process took months... mean while, a few weeks after I started this process, I was pulled over in Kennesaw Georgia. (Yes hillybilly GA). I had no drivers license, except a valid one in NH which I had no actual ID for. I rattled off my SSN and the cop was able to pull up my NH license to see it was valid. My car was impounded and I had to pay a hefty fine (which I was able to get waived as my ID finally arrived so I could covert my valid NH to a GA license).

The cop NEVER once suspected me because my SSN was different than the state I was born in. Frankly the cop wouldn't have known anyways, since my SSN was issued from the state I had a drivers license in. Honestly I don't think the cop would have even known or cared what the prefix meant, as they only wanted the SSN to cross reference an existing drivers license. Nothing more, nothing less.

My point.. you're full of shit and have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. And frankly are just talking out your ass. And if I didn't care so much about my privacy on here (to a degree), just to prove you wrong, I'd be more than happy to scan and upload EVERTHING I have surrounding this story because I saved all correspondence. (even though this was 1997, before the days of electronic filing online.. I had to use snail mail for everything). I really can prove you're full of shit on this one.

So stop talking conservative talking points. He's less than 30 days away from being out of office. Let it go.

Did Obama get his SS number at a CT office because before the system they have now, the numbers you got were from which office you ended up getting your card/number at.

up

Perhaps on some break he was with a classmate from the Nutmeg State and decided to get his card. He has never posted a resume fom back when he was delivering the afternoon paper, so who knows when he needed it for the first time.

On the one hand, the SSN story could be a good one. On the other hand, there's no reason we should know anyone's Social Security Number. When I get cold callers asking for mine, I just make one up. Sometimes I only give 8 digits and say my parents got a low number for me.

up
Voting closed 0

SSNs were assigned according to the zip code where you lived when you applied.

In 1977, a lot of information was entered by hand. Hawaii was 96XXX and Connecticut was 06XXX. A clerk entering "96" could easily enter "06" by mistake. Thus Obama applied using his HI address, but was assigned a CT number due to the misrouting of the application.

This wasn't uncommon - someone I knew at MIT was given an Oregon SSN despite living in New Jersey (Oregon is 97XXX zip codes, New Jersey has 07XXX zip codes). The SSA wouldn't change it because it really doesn't matter anyway.

Born in MA, I have a social security number that corresponds with a MA birth. Still unsure how Obama, born in Hawaii, received a social security number for a person born in Connecticut.

Back then, there was no such thing as "A social security number for a person born in Connecticut." Social security numbers corresponded to where the card was issued, not where the account holder was born.

I was born in Massachusetts. My social security number was issued in a different state, because that's where my grandparents lived, and they set up a bank account for me into which they deposited a gift on the occasion of my turning three or something, and that transaction needed a social security number.

(and, for whatever it's worth, this was not some trust fund thing, grandpa was a retired railway worker and it was a couple of hundred bucks.)

Out of curiosity, did your grandfather have a social security number?

I remember being greatly puzzled a few years ago, doing some family tree research. I was online - the social security death index. Found death records and ss #s as expected for my grandmother and sister. Could not find any for my grandfather (whose lifetime did overlap the social security system).

My father (whom I would occasionally tease for being of an age to have a two-digit social security number) explained that Grandpa had worked for the post office (which I had known) which had an entirely separate pension system (at least during Grandpa's lifetime).

Were railroad workers in a similar situation?

up
Voting closed 0

Actually...

It was entirely normal for a long time for the "raised seal" to be the only acceptable document - raised seal original, no photocopies - for important identity matters. It was one of the most precious and guarded home/family documents - along with house deed, social security card, immigration/naturalization papers (if applicable), passport, and vaccination records. If it was lost or destroyed, you'd be making extensive communications with or pilgrimage to courthouse/hall of records where you were born to replace the original.

If people hadn't needed to replace it or use it for special id purposes recently, they wouldn't know how things had changed - that's why that was the way a lot of people still understood it at the time of the 2008 campaign, too.

It was Obama's own fault (or more likely his campaign staff's fault) for sending out a closeup photo of a modern printout and saying "Here's his birth certificate!" - leading reasonable people who hadn't put much credence to the birther question to say "WTF? A birth certificate from then wouldn't be like that!?" - and the Hawaii Secretary of State (or Registrar of Vital Statistics or whatever the official is called there) had to clarify "No, we keep the raised-seal original in our files. This form is what we certify and send out for situations like this."

If Obama's people had given the correct answer in the first place, they could have headed off some of the hassle - but they didn't. (The epitaph of many a politician from either side of the aisle).

Anybody who has gotten a passport knows that "original" "looks like" birth certificates are not valid, and knows what the valid one looks like.

Many states don't take the fakey looking special fancy doctors signature ones anymore, nor do they issue them, either.

You would have to be living under a rock to not know better. What you describe is akin to people saying "where is his ORIGINAL driver's license - the handwritten paper one!".

That authors write their own internal publishing industry marketing copy.

Okay.

I feel sorry for you. It must be hard to be so stupid.

If I were a Harvard Law grad, shopping my book and paying for a marketing firm that "accidentally" said I was born in Kenya and raised in Indonesia, even though I was born and raised in Hawaii, I hope I or a friend would catch on before 16 years. If not, I wouldn't blame my political opponents, honest historians and credible media for asking serious questions. Especially if some of my family in Kenya said they witnessed my birth there and I intentionally withheld my birth certificate until sued. Not to mention the very suspicious social security number for a person born in Connecticut but issued to Obama born in Hawaii with no ties to CT.

If authors don't write their own biographical info (they all do) then are the interns at the publishing company supposed to see a psychic or clairvoyant to make up the story? Did Obama not proof read his bio for a decade and a half? Of course Obama played the "born in Kenya" card until it wasn't convenient for the presidency. And the media blames the "internet" for its demise. Comical.

Would you care to comment on the dozens of inaccuracies pointed out at your above post, or are you going to continue to spout ignorance and rumor?

Also, since this seems to be such a hot issue with you, you must have directed a lot of outrage at Rafael Eduardo Cruz when he announced his run for POTUS since he shares identical birth characteristics as Obama, and I heard that someone witnessed him being born in Mexico, also I haven't seen his Birth Cert (long form) so I can't really be sure that he isn't an ILLEGAL MEXICAN STEALING MY JOBS AND/OR TAXPAYER DOLLARS.

If you are equating Cruz' and Obama's birth characteristics, you are for some bizarre reason conceding that he wasn't born in the US, as Ted was born in Calgary, where football is played on a 110 yard field, but only 3 downs.

Also, Ted's dad was Cuban, not Mexican.

far-left Snopes

Snopes is as non-political as you can possibly get. Simply because they get to the truth and publish it (and it happens to not agree with your fairy tales) does not in any way make them "far left". Jeesh!

Reality is far to the left of poor Fishy. But his fee-fees are just as valid, in our post-truth society.

There was an article in the NYT recently saying how everything that doesn't agree with the Conservative world view is now getting labeled either "liberal elitist propaganda" or "fake news". Even if it's non-partisan statements like "it's cold this winter"

Your parents?

Do you have paperwork showing that your immigrant ancestors were legal?

They both LEGALLY immigrated to the U.S., both were 'sponsored' by someone who vouched for them, and was responsible for financially supporting them if need be, but both had jobs. There was no welfare state and 'entitlements' when they LEGALLY immigrated to the U.S., so they never became a burden to the state. They also LEGALLY immigrated at a time when the U.S> economy grew at a much higher yearly rate than today, and when there was a need for semi and unskilled workers. In 2016-17, we (the U.S.) are a 'developed' post-industrial society with anemic job and GDP growth.

You know, the people that your "legally here and not a burden blah blah" ancestors murdered, displaced, or profited from the murder and displacement.

So white you are!

It's almost as if at this point, if there weren't a racist comment by our fishman here on anything political, I'd feel the need to call 911 for a welfare check.

Please cite the racist comment. Quotes on Obama's "born in Kenya" biography that he either wrote or condoned, taken from far-left Snopes. His or his paid publicist's words, not mine. Your witness.

So Obama's marketing team made an editing error for 16 years that he was born in Kenya? The Social Security office made a typographical error in entering a Connecticut birth social security number instead of Hawaiian? Or perhaps he waited to apply for a SSN until an adult student at Columbia in NYC while passing several Social Security offices in NY state to apply in CT? This while withholding his birth certificate until sued? Priceless.

This from a guy who accepts that Obama was born in Hawaii, it's just too late to care. He's almost done. The fact is, any rookie cop or arm-chair investigator would have to be suspicious of whether Obama is lying or merely promoted the lie when it was "cool to be Kenyan" before his presidential aspirations. As for SSN's corresponding to place of birth, I have relatives born long before Obama and their SSN's all correspond to a MA birth. Obama's connection to CT is specious at best. How does a Hawaiian kid get a CT SSN? Believe it or not, the only group that had SSN's that were not geographic were U.S. Railroad workers (series starting with 701-728). We had the chart at the booking desk, if a Hawaiian gave a CT SSN, he would be asked to explain. The media never dared ask Obama to explain.

It never did.

He was born to a US citizen. That makes him a US citizen. Period.

"I have relatives born long before Obama and their SSN's all correspond to a MA birth."

You don't, because their SSNs correspond to the numbers' location of issue, not the location of the individual's birth. The numbers for older folks were issued only once withholding became relevant. I doubt anyone in your family has ever gotten past the packie on the corner, so of course they're all MA numbers.

Many people have already pointed out this fact to you, with sources, so it's clear now that you are just a garden variety liar. But what should we expect from someone who pretends to be a cop online and boasts anonymously about things he never did? Sad.
