Two men who were shot at Watston and Brookline streets around 12:15 a.m. managed to flee their attackers in a car, then flagged down a fire truck for assistance. But one of the men, James Lauture, 30, of Cambridge, died not long after, the Middlesex County District Attorney's office reports. The two escaped with a third man, who was unharmed.
AlertNewEngland reports the dead man was shot in the chest; the injured man in the arms and legs. Nate Blackest reports the men escaped in a pearl-white Cadillac. He reports the car came to a stop outside Cinderella's, with bullet holes in its windshield and driver's side window.
Wicked Local Cambridge reports Lauture survived being stabbed three times in the chest outside the Alewife T stop in 2001.
